Safety Anchor Eyebolts Installation, Testing & Certification

To BS EN 795:1997 - BS 7883:2005 - LOLER 1998 APM Safety Anchor eyebolts.

There are different types of safety anchor eyebolts for different sitations. All Safety eyebolt anchors are tested with a calibrated & certificated Pull Tester to the Kn test as laid down by the Safety Standards.

They come under three headings as listed below
  • Fall Arrest
  • Restraint
  • Abseiling (Industrial Rope Access) & Rescue
SAFETY ANCHOR EYEBOLTS CAN BE INSTALLED IN BRICK/ CONCRETE/ STEEL BEAMS / MASONARY OR IN CLADDING USING SPACERS. OUR SURVEYOR WILL ADVISE YOU OF THE CORRECT POSITIONING OF THE EYEBOLTS THAT YOU REQUIRE.

Legislation

BS 8213 PART1 : 2004 For windows/ doors / rooflights and these are used mainly by window cleaners & maintenance personnel.

BS EN795 :1997 The Standards Act which lays down the requirements by law & procedure for the testing of the eyebolts.

BS EN7883 :2005 Deals with the method of installation and legislation re the testing of the installed eyebolts. LOLER 1998 Rope Access testing procedures ( minimum of every 6 months)

Safety Anchor Eyebolts must be checked visually before each use by the operative the standard safety anchor eyebolt (mostly used by window cleaners) has to be tested to 6Kn for a 15 second pull with a certificated pull tester every twelve months.

Abseiling eyebolts ( Industrial Rope Access) must be tested a minimum of once in every SIX Month Period. Should the use be frequent - say on a daily or weekly basis they must be inspected & tested daily when used.

A disc or tab describing the purpose for which the anchor was installed must be replaced after each pull test showing the date tested, the use for which the eyebolt was installed (fall arrest, restraint, industrial rope access etc)

Safety Anchor Eyebolts must be installed by a competent trained person as an incorrect installation can prove fatal.
