Deals with the method of installation and legislation re the testing of the installed eyebolts.
LOLER 1998 Rope Access testing procedures ( minimum of every 6 months)

Safety Anchor Eyebolts must be checked visually before each use by the operative the standard
safety anchor eyebolt (mostly used by window cleaners) has to be tested to 6Kn for a 15 second
pull with a certificated pull tester every twelve months.
Abseiling eyebolts ( Industrial Rope Access) must be tested a minimum of once in every SIX Month
Period. Should the use be frequent - say on a daily or weekly basis they must be inspected & tested
daily when used.
A disc or tab describing the purpose for which the anchor was installed must be replaced after each
pull test showing the date tested, the use for which the eyebolt was installed (fall arrest, restraint,
industrial rope access etc)
Safety Anchor Eyebolts must be installed by a competent trained person as an incorrect
installation can prove fatal.
